Three products, one account, one record of the church.

Engine is church software in three products that share one record of the church: People for guests and care, Operations for forms, meetings and finance, and Communications for promotion and sermons, with the assistant inside each. Communications is available now, as Promo Engine. People and Operations are in development.

Built by a church communications director, in a working church. Promo Engine is free for 15 days, with no card.

Works with

The tools it connects to

Engine posts into Slack, Google Chat or Microsoft Teams, reads a calendar published from Planning Center, Google, Apple or Outlook, and reads the giving export a church already produces. Nothing is moved out of the tools a church already runs.

One account

Three products on one record of the church

Each product holds the parts that belong to it. People, roles and billing are shared by all three. One is open; two are in development.

01Coming soon

People

One record for every person, with follow-up that is scheduled rather than remembered.

  • GuestsA first visit produces a follow-up plan: each step with a name, a phone number and a date.
  • CarePrayer, hospital and bereavement follow-up, with a name and a date on each step, visible only to the people granted Care.

Operations

Church administration: forms, meetings and finance.

  • FormsA link to hand out. A submission becomes a person in the church record and a dated next step.
  • MeetingsNotes typed as usual. The agreed items are extracted with a name against each, and reach a list only after approval.
  • FinanceEach ministry lead sees their own budget line and no one else's. Engine reads and counts; it does not move money.

Communications

Promotion schedules and sermons, produced on time.

  • PromoSet the size of an event and the promotion schedule is generated, with a name and a deadline on every piece.
  • SermonsWrite the sermon, keep the studies, request the graphics, plan the series. Grammar, discussion questions and a summary on request.

How it runs

A week, walked through

Every product answers the same three questions: what starts a piece of work, what the church decides once, and what lands on a person's list. The church supplies the answers; Engine does the counting.

01People

A guest comes on Sunday

What starts it
A guest arrives. A plan-a-visit form, a card on Sunday, or a name typed in on Sunday afternoon.
What you decide once
The follow-up path: a ladder of touches counted in days from the day they came, and who it goes to by default.
What lands on a list
Dated work with a name, a phone number and your church's own words on every step. At the end it is connected, ran out, or stopped, and the record says which.

02Operations

A form comes in on Tuesday

What starts it
A form comes in. A meeting ends. A file of what the church spent lands in Finance.
What you decide once
Where each form goes and who owns the reply. Who was in the room. Which ministry each budget line belongs to.
What lands on a list
A person and a dated step from every form. Who agreed to what, proposed and then confirmed by a person. A ministry lead's own line, and no one else's.

03Communications

An event is six weeks out

What starts it
An event goes on the calendar at a scale. Or Engine reads your church calendar and finds an event nothing is promoting, and asks first.
What you decide once
The framework: which channels, how many weeks out, and what each one says, in the words your church uses.
What lands on a list
Every post, email and announcement, with an owner and a deadline, in order. Nothing publishes on its own. A person presses the button.

The assistant

The assistant is inside the product

Staff currently export a list, paste it into a chatbot, get a draft and type the result back in. Engine runs the same step inside the record the work is already in.

01

It has the context

A chatbot has to be told about the event first. Engine already holds the event, the brief and the church's own terminology, and the draft is written from all three.

02

The church sets the thresholds

Engine reports what is late, what is unassigned and what was missed. The definition of late is a number the church sets in its framework. Engine applies it and does not change it.

03

Nothing is sent automatically

No email is sent, no post is published and no money moves on the software's decision. Each of those is a button, labeled with its consequence, pressed by a person.

04

Drafting is assisted. Decisions are not.

Given a direction, it writes up to five drafts in a minute. It does not choose the message, the voice or the creative direction.

Every step that could run on its own is a confirmation like this one. A person presses the button.

One church

Why the three share one record

Most church software is several products sold to one building, each holding its own copy of the same volunteer. Engine's three products read one record of the church.

One invitation

A person is invited to the church, not to a product. Opening a second product adds nothing: the same login, the same role, the same record.

One list per volunteer

A newsletter to write, a guest to call and a budget to approve arrive on one list. The list does not say which product produced each item, because the volunteer does not need to know.

One bill

One subscription per church, with no per-seat charge and no working out which product a volunteer counts against. Promo Engine's subscription is the one on sale today, and it becomes the church's Engine subscription when the other products open.

It connects to the tools in use

Reads a calendar published from Planning Center, Google, Apple or Outlook. Posts to Slack. Adds a guest to the church's existing list only when a staff member ticks that step.

Questions

Questions a church asks first

Anything not covered here: the assistant on the plain version of this page answers from this site's text, and contact@engine.church answers the rest.

01

What is Engine?

Church software in three products that share one record of the church: People, Operations and Communications, with the assistant inside each product. One record per person, one list per volunteer, one subscription per church.

02

What is open today?

Communications, sold on its own as Promo Engine at promoengine.church: the promotion schedule for an event is generated from its size, with a name and a deadline on every piece, and there is a writing space for sermons. It is the first of the three products and the only way to start an account today.

03

When do People and Operations open?

They are in development, in a working church, and no date is set. When they open, a Promo Engine account becomes an Engine account with the framework, the campaigns and the team carried over. Nothing is set up twice.

04

Who is it for?

A church's staff and the volunteers who do follow-up. Members do not need an account. They are reached through the tools the church already uses, and Engine does not contact them.

05

What does the AI do, and what does it not do?

It drafts, reads and counts against rules the church sets: which guest has not been called, which piece is late, who agreed to what in a meeting. It does not set a threshold, send a message, publish anything or move money. A person presses every button.

06

Does it replace our church management system?

No. Engine runs beside Planning Center, Breeze, ChurchSuite and the rest. It reads a calendar the church already publishes and posts to the chat tool the team already uses. Recording what the church runs stops setup asking about it twice.
